The founders

Life happens around the table. Here’s ours.

Novaclad wasn’t started in a garage or a business school. It was started at a kitchen table — by two parents doing the math on their own lives.

The itch

Ryan and Audrey had four kids, two careers, and one calendar that never quite balanced. Like a lot of parents, they kept arriving at the same late-night arithmetic: years of effort poured into other people’s companies, on other people’s schedules, building things their kids would never see. They wanted the hours to be theirs. They wanted the sweat equity to land somewhere their children could watch it grow — and someday hold it.

So they founded Fourfold Futures. The name isn’t an abstraction. It’s a headcount.

The why

There was a second itch, and it wasn’t about them. Local business, they’d come to believe, is the root of good community — and inside the big companies where they’d spent their careers, the work always seemed to come at the local option’s expense. The craftsmen didn’t have the tools or the presence to compete with the big-box stores. The corporate players had all the customer-experience mojo the local shops were desperate for. Somebody needed to carry that mojo the other direction. It felt less like a market and more like a calling.

The search

They weren’t hunting for a startup idea. They were hunting for a business — local, necessary, unglamorous in the best possible way, established enough to have survived its own mistakes, and somehow still untouched by the internet. The kind of company where the craft is excellent and the paperwork is a fax machine’s fever dream.

Rock Creek Granite was the bullseye: a countertop fabrication shop in Imperial, Missouri, cutting and installing stone since 2013. Great at the part that matters. Stuck with the part that doesn’t. In 2022, they bought it.

The build

They didn’t buy a granite shop to run a granite shop. They bought it to learn one — slab yard to saw to install truck — and to earn the right to fix what actually frustrates people about getting a countertop: the weeks of phone tag, the sales visit just to get a number, the quote that arrives as one mysterious lump sum.

Novaclad is everything the shop taught them, written into software. Your phone does the measuring. The shop’s real price book does the pricing. And a craftsman whose name you know does the work — same as it ever was.

The Fabrication Cloud

That’s the bigger idea Novaclad is built toward: connecting the people who dream of making a change at home with the best local craftsmen able to deliver it, end to end — chosen not just on cost, but on quality and character too. One shop and one metro at a time, starting with their own.

We’re building this the way we’d want it built for our own house: honestly, locally, and with people whose names we know.— Ryan & Audrey
